Album Release Follows SF Sketchfest Appearance
San Francisco – January 2011 – Rooftop Comedy, the leading interactive media producer of original comedy content, is thrilled to announce the release of Billy Wayne Davis’ debut comedy album: Billy Wayne Davis. The title will be available for purchase through retailers including iTunes, Amazon, RooftopComedy.com and will also be available to stream on Pandora and Grooveshark. Rooftop Comedy is previewing the title with select press outlets.
Billy Wayne Davis is the thinking man’s hillbilly. With a combination of subtle, disarming intelligence and an unmistakable comfort on stage, he has the rare ability to win over every kind of comedy audience imaginable. After making a name for himself in his homeland of Nashville, he has gone on to perform in virtually every corner of the United States, from the deep South to the alternative comedy hotbed of Seattle, where he now lives.
Billy Wayne can be personal, shocking, political, and absurd, but his ability to forge an instant connection with audiences allows him to get away with anything and everything. No subject matter is off limits from his trademark drawl and easy charm. Whether he’s bridging the gap between “rednecks and gay dudes” or offering his own take on “what to expect when you’re expecting”, Billy has a smart, sharp charisma that resonates with just about anybody. He has worked with some of the biggest names in comedy, including Colin Quinn, Louis CK, Mitch Hedberg, and Ralphie May. He has performed at festivals, comedy clubs, and theaters including Seattle’s Bumbershoot, The Ryman in Nashville, Comedy Works in Denver, Gotham Comedy club in NYC, and the Melrose Improv. Not surprisingly, Billy Wayne was a finalist in the Seattle International Comedy Competition and has been a part of such prestigious comedy events as The Bridgetown Comedy Festival and The Laughing Skull Comedy Festival.
Previously released recordings from ROOFTOP COMEDY PRODUCTIONS include: Tommy Johnagin’s Stand-up Comedy, Grammy® Nominee Sandra Bernhard’s I Love Being Me, Don’t You?, Hal Sparks’ Escape From Halcatraz, Moshe Kasher’s Everyone You Know Is Going To Die, And Then You Are, W. Kamau Bell’s Face Full Of Flour and Tom Segura’s Thrilled, among others.
